Ladies and gentlemen, we have a foundation! Or at least, we have foundation forms. Steve went by on Thursday and the contractor has formed the foundation for our house and the houses next to us. We spent the weekend having dinner with some friends from college and going to Costco, so we don’t know if the concrete has been poured yet. I would guess it was poured on Friday so it could have the weekend to set, but I have no idea if that actually happened. We’ll find out this week on Steve’s next drive by. The picture below is facing west, and this side of the house will house two of the bedrooms with a bathroom in between. I’m starting to get an idea of the outdoor space, so we can plan for putting up a fence and doing the backyard landscaping. The front yard landscaping will be done as part of the house construction, but we will need to do the backyard landscaping ourselves.
When we decided to buy a new house, we set the goal of being able to buy new living room furniture for the house. The stuff we have now is functional, but we are tired of the hand me down mismatched La-z-boys. Yesterday we went furniture looking at a store in downtown Corvallis called Blackledge. And we found our dream couch! It was the only couch in the entire store that both Steve and I agreed was very comfortable (I prefer soft and squishy and Steve prefers firm and linear), and we both loved the way it was modern in style but looks like it belongs in a living room and not a showroom. Deciding on a couch with no bickering – it’s on the top of the wishlist now!
On a whim Steve and I decided to go to Costco today (yes, we know, never go to Costco on a whim!), and ended up finding a new chair. It’s called the Mallory chair, and although it was a bit of a splurge, a leather chair was in the top three things we were saving for. It was a really great deal too, which made it easier for us to swallow getting it right now. Steve is a big fan of his new “man chair” – he is showing everyone the ATV he wants get get for the sand dunes in Florence. Silly husband, he thinks he is going to get to have more motorized toys in the new house. Lawnmower Steve, think lawnmower!

Megan and Steve, This is so exciting. Congrats on the new purchase. I can’t wait to see more pictures as it’s being built. Very cool! ~Suzanne
