It’s official, Steve and I are now real grownups. *Grownup: One who pays a mortgage and has to mow the lawn and pull weeds with no allowance.*
We’ve bought a house! We will be moving to Venenta, Oregon in October. Veneta is a cute little town just west of Eugene, and is home to the Oregon Country Fair. We will be just about 10 minutes away from Fern Ridge Reservoir and just under an hour away from Florence and the Oregon Coast.
Our new house is on Stellar Avenue, in a new community in Veneta called Perkins Country Estates. Our lot has just passed the building permit stage, and has only been graded in preparation for the foundation. We have a corner lot which backs up into a sort of wooded parcel of property. We learned last weekend that the back line of our property borders the Veneta Urban Growth Boundary, so hopefully, barring any Measure 37 claims there won’t be any development behind us. Right now there aren’t any claims bordering our property, so I hope this holds true.
About the house! It will be brand new, and is a 3 bedroom 2 bath with a 2 car garage and den/office. It’s called the Klamath plan. From the link, add the den instead of the living room and the breakfast nook pop-out. The model home is an identical floor plan, and let me tell you, the cats are going to love having more room to run around! Myself, I’m a big fan of the huge walk in closet. We were able to pick out most everything in terms of interiors, which was very fun.
I have to tell you - it’s pretty exciting to think about being a grownup with a house. Except for the weeding.
(There will be a house behind me in October!)

This is so cool. Who would have thought of us being grown up … ever? You buying a house and me having a baby! All in October. Gonna be exciting!
Enjoy the fun.
Miss you.

Does this mean a dog will be far behind??

I mean, will you be getting a dog once you’re homeowners? After all, a home without a dog is just a house.

Hi:
Looks great!
Suggestion: When the framing goes up and plubming, ductwork, and electrical goes up, take a bunch of pictures. A year from now, you will want to hang a shelf on the wall, look at pictures before the sheet-rock goes up. As an example, you might find out, “Holy crap, better not nail it up there, the dryer exhaust duct is right there.”
Are you kids still living within your means regarding things that you are picking out for the house? I am glad to see you getting a house, but I don’t want you to see you get in over your head.

Spending the weekend at CostCo and living within one’s means are mutually exclusive terms.
Good idea on the photos!

Okay, where are the new photos? Rumor has it that the place is all framed up. What’s the deal?
Awaiting more photos,
